fnatic win PLG Grand Slam
fnatic beat G2 on Dust2 (16-11) and Mirage (16-14) to be crowned PLG Grand Slam champions in Abu Dhabi.
Two entry frags by Ludvig "Brollan" Brolin followed up by another double from Jesper "JW" Wecksell gave fnatic the CT-side pistol round on Dust2. The following round would see G2 punch back, however, as a double by Alexandre "bodyy" Pianaro opened the round up and the French side were able to capitalize on it. The match then quickly became a brawl as both teams fought to control the economy, with G2 leading 6-4 after the first ten rounds of the match. The half stayed close all of the way, but it was G2 who were able to win out the half, 8-7.
The second pistol round also went the way of the Swedes, who tied it back up, and then retook the lead winning the anti-eco. After four rounds going the way of fnatic, Lucas "Lucky" Chastang and Kenny "kennyS" Schrub came up big with triples in back-to-back rounds to keep the match close, bringing it to 10-11. Finally, though, it was fnatic on the attack who were able to set the pace and without big plays G2 were unable to stop the Swedish team’s attacks. Finally, the map closed out 16-11 in favor of JW & co.

G2 won an almost perfect CT-side pistol round on Mirage, losing only one player to fnatic’s attack, but a huge play by Freddy "KRIMZ" Johansson getting three kills with the hero AK the following round tied it up, 1-1. fnatic then took the early lead, winning five in a row before G2 could get back on the board. Both teams then traded rounds, making it 7-3 for the Swedes. With a broken economy, G2 saw the half quickly go downhill, going behind 5-10 before the switch.
The second pistol rounds went the way of G2, who were able to gain some hope after winning the anti-eco, but a solid hold on the first gun round kept fnatic ahead. The French side didn’t give up, though, and took the two following rounds, making it 9-11, but a huge defense on A by KRIMZ with a double on a late round 3vs3 kept the swedes in the driver’s seat. Once again, though, G2 managed to weasel their way back into the match, winning round after round to take the lead back, 13-12, with fnatic’s economy in shambles. The Swedes, with their backs against the wall, were able to come back from 12-14 to turn it around to 15-14 ahead of the last round. They then cemented their 2-0 victory in regulation time, 16-14, to be crowned champions in Abu Dhabi.
